A
California mansion dubbed the "Western White House" has been sold for $23 million, marking one of the priciest sales in Hillsborough's history. The Neoclassical Georgian-style estate, over 100 years old, was revamped by architect Julia Morgan to resemble the White House in 1930 for its previous owner, George R. Hearst.
The mansion boasts an impressive 24,000 square feet with 11 bedrooms, nine full-bathrooms, and five half-bathrooms across four floors. The property features a large pool pavilion, a home theater, fitness room, wine cellar, and a stately office reminiscent of the White House Oval Office. The estate's grounds include an impeccably laid driveway and verdant greens on its 2.9-acre lot.
The seller initially listed the mansion for $38.9 million before reducing the price to $23 million, which was accepted by a buyer in late October. According to Compass agents Alex and Pierre Buljan, the sale is a testament to the property's unique history and architectural design.
