Catherine Zeta-Jones defends her four-home ownership as a normal luxury

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas own four homes, but she disputes the label of excessive real estate holdings.

C
atherine Zeta-Jones doesn't think owning four homes is excessive. The actress and her husband, Michael Douglas, have properties in New York (two), Canada, and Spain. "It's not about being extravagant," she said, "it's about comfort."

Zeta-Jones also enjoys splurging on non-essential items like vintage clothing from Parisian stores. She loves classic Yves Saint Laurent designs and is particularly fond of evening dresses. However, when it comes to everyday wear, she's more practical: "A pair of jeans is a pair of jeans" – spending £200 on a white T-shirt isn't worth it.

Her daughter, Carys, shares her passion for fashion and has inherited Zeta-Jones' extensive Fendi Baguette bag collection. The actress joked that she and Douglas keep their Oscars in separate houses to avoid any "hanky-panky" between them. They're celebrating 25 years of marriage this November.

Zeta-Jones values independence in her relationship with Douglas, saying they respect each other's space and are not afraid to express themselves. When asked about his decision to step away from acting, she noted that he's earned the right to slow down – but never says never: "Retirement" is a flexible concept for him.
