Cathie Black, Former Hearst Magazines CEO, Trades Palm Beach Properties for $30M

Media mogul Cathie Black and husband Thomas Harvey sell Palm Beach house for $18 million in off-market deal.

M
edia mogul Cathie Black and her husband Thomas Harvey have made a swift change in their Palm Beach real estate holdings. They sold their oceanfront home at 1066 North Ocean Boulevard for $18 million in an off-market deal, just days after purchasing another property on the island for $12 million.

The couple's new purchase is located at 302 Via Linda and was previously owned by the estate of Michael F. Neidorff, the late CEO of Centene Corporation. Black and Harvey bought the 4,400-square-foot house from Neidorff's estate for $12 million earlier this month.

Their sold property, a 3,600-square-foot home at 1066 North Ocean Boulevard, is situated across the street from billionaire William Lauder's oceanfront acres, which are listed for sale at $177.8 million after two years on the market and a price cut. The deal has yet to close, but it went into contract in February.

Black, a former media mogul and president of Hearst Magazines, spent her career spearheading ad sales and launching publications such as Oprah Winfrey's O, The Oprah Magazine. She later launched an investment firm, Madison Park Ventures, after leaving her position as New York City schools chancellor in 2010.

The couple is not straying far from their previous home, as they have purchased a new property on the island just days after selling their old one. Other recent deals on the island include Lisa Hedley's sale of a waterfront house for $23.8 million and Marc Glimcher's sale of his lakefront home to Jamie McCourt for $19.2 million.
