Christie's Hires Ed Bruehl to Drive Hamptons Growth

Top Hamptons broker Ed Bruehl joins Christie’s to lead expansion, adding global reach, data insight, and luxury focus.

E
d Bruehl has become the newest member of Christie’s International Real Estate’s East Hampton team. The firm’s affiliate that serves New York, New Jersey and Connecticut announced that the seasoned Hamptons broker, who has spent nearly twenty years building a career there, will spearhead the group’s growth in the region.

Bruehl, formerly with Saunders & Associates, has generated over $1 billion in sales and was ranked ninth on The Real Deal’s 2024 Hamptons Broker List. When asked why he made the move, he said the timing felt right both personally and professionally. “I’ve watched the Hamptons market evolve from a local luxury enclave into a global stage,” he explained. “Christie’s embodies the highest standards where art, architecture and investment intersect, which aligns with my focus on quality, trust and long‑term value.”

The new office sits at 26 Park Place in East Hampton. Ilija Pavlovic, President and CEO of Christie’s International Real Estate Group, praised Bruehl’s drive and integrity, noting that his understanding of Christie’s international reach will help the firm deepen ties in each community. “We look forward to expanding throughout the Hamptons and serving clients in the way only Christie’s can,” Pavlovic added.

To boost visibility, the East Hampton location will feature a broadcast studio for Bruehl’s popular YouTube videos and podcast, and will host community events ranging from starter homes in Springs to high‑end estates south of the highway. Pavlovic emphasized that Christie’s and the Hamptons share a unique, experiential bond, and that the firm’s global network will deliver the international exposure that local properties deserve while uniting the tri‑state area into a single market.

Christie’s also plans to open additional Hamptons offices in the future. “Hamptons properties, including new developments, need the most powerful international platform and the most trusted brand,” the firm said. With operations in more than 50 countries and annual sales exceeding $100 billion, Christie’s offers unparalleled access to global buyers. Its synergy with Christie’s Auction House also provides clients with connections to art advisors and collectors, allowing agents to facilitate both real‑estate and art transactions.

Bruehl brings a data‑driven mindset honed during his early career at Morgan Stanley in New York City before moving to the East End in 2002. “My finance background taught me to look beyond the transaction and focus on intrinsic value,” he said. He views real‑estate in the Hamptons as an asset class shaped by timing, sentiment and scarcity, and believes Christie’s is the ideal environment for that perspective. “It’s not just about buying property—it’s about building generational wealth through discernment and timing.”

He sees the partnership between Christie’s Auction House and Christie’s International Real Estate as a seamless bridge between art and property. “Clients already live in a world of refined taste and discretion,” he noted. “Aligning those worlds elevates service, global exposure and credibility, giving buyers confidence that they’re part of an ecosystem that moves the world’s most important collections and estates.”

Regarding the current market, Bruehl says it has matured beyond summer homes to lifestyle investment. Buyers are now more global, informed and focused on design, privacy and sustainability. Christie’s platform connects local properties to a truly international audience, providing data, reach and relationships that are powerful tools in a nuanced market.

As he steps into his leadership role, Bruehl aims to build a flagship that blends global sophistication with local integrity. “My goal is to create a culture of excellence—an environment where agents, builders and clients feel part of something larger than the deal itself,” he said. With Christie’s, he believes he can scale that vision from East Hampton to Southampton and Westhampton while preserving the craftsmanship and care that define the Hamptons.
