CIBS Recognizes Leading Long Island Commercial Real Estate Figures

CIBS of Long Island honored top brokers, attorneys, and rising stars at its meeting, celebrating 2025 CRE achievements.

t its annual gathering, the Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island (CIBS) celebrated industry leaders. The ceremony, held on Wednesday at The Lannin in Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, attracted roughly 200 guests for a holiday party and awards ceremony.

    President Ralph Benzakein opened with remarks that highlighted the society’s commitment to excellence. “Our honorees exemplify the leadership, expertise, and community spirit that define CIBS,” he said.

    The top honor, the President’s Award, was presented to attorney Peter Curry of Farrell Fritz. Curry, whose practice centers on bond financing, lease transactions, and large‑scale economic development, was recognized for decades of service as CIBS’s general counsel and advisor. “I am humbled to receive this recognition from my peers,” Curry remarked.

    Associate of the Year went to Andrea Tsoukalas Curto, partner at Forchelli Deegan Terrana. Curto, a specialist in land use, zoning, and project approvals, was praised for her professionalism and her leadership within CIBS Women, the society’s women’s division that promotes networking and development opportunities.

    Three Rising Star Awards were also bestowed. Brian Weigold of JLL earned the Office Real Estate Rising Star title; Angel Cordero of The Shopping Center Group received the Retail Real Estate Rising Star award; and Jonathan Blake of CBRE was named Industrial Real Estate Rising Star. These recipients were chosen for their exceptional promise and adherence to the highest industry standards.

    The evening underscored CIBS’s role as a collaborative hub for Long Island’s commercial real estate community, celebrating both seasoned professionals and emerging talent.
