T
he Concord Planning Commission has approved two separate projects for apartment construction. Marginal Properties, a Washington-based company led by Brent Nicholson, will construct a five-story building with 230 apartments and 13,700 square feet of amenity space at 2400 Salvio Street and 2471 Willow Pass Road. Meanwhile, Idaho-based Pacific West and San Francisco-based Maracor have been approved to construct a 183-unit complex at 1650 Ashbury Drive, which is owned by the Church of the Nazarene. The East Bay city has granted these developers permission to build 413 apartments within a five-minute drive of each other. The city has a state-mandated goal of building 5,073 homes by 2030, with 2,036 of these units being affordable for lower-income households.

Maracor Development has plans to construct a 240-unit affordable housing complex near Warm Springs BART station in Fremont. The developer also intends to construct two additional affordable complexes in the city with a combined total of 210 apartments. In June, Maracor, Pacific West Communities, and the Central Valley Coalition for Affordable Housing secured $66 million in financing for a 166-unit affordable complex in Downtown San Jose.
