est Hollywood Community Housing is planning a 73-unit affordable apartment complex in Long Beach. The nonprofit developer, based in West Hollywood, has filed plans to build two-, three- and five-story buildings at 3401 Cerritos Avenue, north of the 405 Freeway. This site currently houses a windowless commercial building.
The proposed complex would feature one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments with underground parking for 103 cars. All units would be affordable, except for a manager's unit required by law. The affordability levels have not been disclosed, but deed-restricted housing typically ranges from very-low-income to moderate-income households earning between 50% and 120% of the area median income.
The complex, designed by Urban Architecture Lab, would include amenities such as a courtyard, community room, fitness room, and laundry facilities. Construction is expected to start next fall and be completed in 2026. West Hollywood Community Housing operates 22 affordable housing complexes with 785 apartments across Los Angeles County.
