Couple Staged Fake Home Tour to Kidnap, Murder Agent on New Year's Eve

Lyndon Akeem Wiggins convicted of killing Monique Baugh, whose body was found in an alley on Dec. 31, 2019.

M
onique Baugh, 28, was abducted and murdered on New Year’s Eve 2019 after a fake home‑viewing in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Wiggins, Segura, Berry and Davis lured her to the house, then seized her, loaded her into a U‑Haul, and shot her. Her hands were duct‑taped and she was later found dead in an alley. The attackers also drove the U‑Haul to Baugh’s boyfriend’s home, where they shot him; the boyfriend survived and identified Wiggins as a suspect.

Wiggins was convicted in 2021 of first‑degree murder and other charges. In 2024 the Minnesota Supreme Court overturned that conviction because of incorrect jury instructions, and he is now seeking a third trial. Segura pleaded guilty in 2024 to kidnapping with intent to cause great bodily harm and received a 240‑month sentence. Berry and Davis were convicted in 2021 of aiding and abetting first‑degree premeditated murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and murder while committing kidnapping; both were sentenced to life without parole.

The case, covered by CBS News, KARE 11, and FOX 9, highlights a coordinated plot that began with a staged property showing and ended in a brutal murder and an attempted assault on Baugh’s boyfriend. Wiggins’ legal team filed a motion for retrial on the day he was to be sentenced, reflecting the ongoing legal battles surrounding the case.
