Court clears path for Success Real Estate owner to face charges

Former Success Real Estate owner moves closer to Massachusetts trial after waiving Florida hearing.

S
tephen Webster, the former owner of the now‑defunct Success Real Estate, is one step closer to facing criminal charges in Massachusetts after surrendering his right to a Florida extradition hearing. A grand jury indicted him on September 12 on four counts: fiduciary embezzlement, larceny over $1,200 in a single scheme, witness intimidation, and publishing a false financial statement. He was taken into custody in Palm Beach County on September 30 without incident and remains held at the county jail.

Court filings show Webster waived the extradition hearing on Tuesday and consented to be transported to Massachusetts. The Florida court has formally requested the governor’s approval for the transfer. Earlier this year, thirteen real‑estate agents sued Success Real Estate, alleging that Webster embezzled funds after abruptly announcing the company’s closure on December 14, 2024. The suit claims each agent received commission checks that bounced upon deposit, and that seven agents are owed a total of $105,033.70 for commissions dated December 2–9, 2024—amounts that were supposed to be held in escrow. The lawsuit also alleges that the escrow account failed to hold the owed commissions.

A spokesperson for the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office confirmed that Webster is scheduled to appear in Palm Beach court next Tuesday. Following that appearance, the courts will initiate the rendition process to bring him back to Massachusetts to answer the charges.
