To compile this list, the company analyzed towns with a significant population of residents aged 65 and over, then cross-checked them against the AreaVibes "livability index," which measures nine key factors including cost of living and transportation.
Pompton Plains was the only tri-state town to make it into the top 10. It's part of the larger Pequannock Township, known for its beautiful parks and strong sense of community. The town also boasts a 260-bed hospital and is easily accessible to Manhattan via public transport.
The average property sale price in Pompton Plains is $585,000, but there are more affordable options available. A 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom residence is currently on the market for under $415,000. While this may be slightly above the national average, it's still cheaper than surrounding areas.
Pompton Plains scored an impressive livability score of 79. Florida dominated GOBankingRates' list with seven towns in the top 10, including Dunedin, which was named America's most livable retirement town.
