orehouse Real Estate Institute (MREI) raised $75,000 at its third annual fundraiser on September 24, 2025, held during the HBCU NY Classic at MetLife Stadium. The event was hosted by Morehouse alumni and industry leaders—Sharif Mitchell (CEO, Northern Liberties), Verdun Perry (Senior Managing Director, Blackstone Strategic Partners), Will Blodgett (CEO, Tredway), and John Gilmore (Senior Managing Director, Walker & Dunlop)—who underscored the institute’s mission.
MREI, launching this fall, will be an undergraduate‑focused real‑estate program dedicated to equity, innovation, and community building. Its curriculum blends academic rigor with hands‑on community engagement and direct access to commercial‑real‑estate professionals. The institute is seeking a visionary Executive Director to lead its next chapter.
Anchor investments from Prologis and Dominium, along with the $75,000 raised, will endow the institute and support its goal of preparing Morehouse students for leadership roles in commercial real estate. “MREI is a necessary step to develop the next generation of leaders within the real‑estate community,” said Gilmore. Mitchell added, “Supporting MREI is an investment in the future of inclusive leadership in commercial real estate.”
The fundraiser, held during Morehouse’s game against Howard University, celebrated Black excellence, tradition, and leadership. It marked the third consecutive year of alumni‑driven support for MREI’s vision of redefining real‑estate education and fostering diverse industry leaders.
