erek Jeter’s former lakeside estate in New York’s Hudson Valley is now open for guests. The historic guest house, Tiedemann Castle, sits on a 4‑acre Greenwood Lake property and began accepting reservations on Airbnb last month. The one‑bedroom, two‑guest home is listed for just over $1,300 per night and is managed by Lisa Mulcahy, founder of Upstate Luxe, which handles rentals for the current owners.
Mulcahy notes that the house was designed to honor the property’s storied past, offering boutique concierge services and a blend of turn‑of‑the‑century charm. Built in the early 1900s by a New York doctor, the castle’s stone façade, medieval‑style turrets, and battlements echo the era when the lake attracted figures such as Greta Garbo and Babe Ruth. Guests can explore a partially accessible turret that houses a yoga space and a sauna at its base.
Jeter purchased the lakefront compound in the early 2000s, investing roughly $3 million in renovations to restore Tiedemann Castle after years of neglect. The property’s lineage dates back to 1952, when it was acquired by John and Julia Tiedemann, the adoptive parents of Jeter’s grandfather. The estate’s 700‑foot lakeside frontage includes a private dock, and the guest house offers direct access to the water.
After listing the home in 2018 for $14.75 million, Jeter finally sold the property in 2024. Multiple price reductions and a failed auction led to a relisting at $6.3 million in summer 2024, and the house closed at $5.1 million. The main house, a 9,000‑square‑foot structure, features four kitchens, a media room, an elevator, a gym, and a replica of the Statue of Liberty. Additional amenities include a pool house and a boat house.
Guests can enhance their stay with private yoga sessions, in‑house catering, and local excursions. The property’s owners currently use the estate as an occasional vacation home but plan to eventually list the entire compound for rent. “It’s a spectacular property and they want others to experience it,” Mulcahy said.
