T
he Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex boasts an impressive 279 coworking locations, ranking second behind Los Angeles in the number of available spaces. This represents a 3% increase from the previous quarter, with Manhattan trailing by just four locations. From a square footage perspective, DFW ranks fifth in the country with 5.3 million square feet of coworking space.
The pandemic has accelerated the popularity of coworking, particularly among smaller companies with fewer employees. However, even coworking spaces are feeling the effects of local office market distress. The national average cost of a coworking membership was $150 per month in the third quarter, down from $198 in DFW between the second and third quarters.
WeWork has identified Dallas as a priority market and maintains locations in Plano, Preston Center, Uptown Dallas, and two acquired Common Desk spots. The company has also launched its Coworking Partner Network, allowing users to access five additional locations operated by Venture X and Intelligent Office in DFW.
