n a move that underscores the growing influence of tech moguls in Washington, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has acquired a $23 million estate in the nation's capital. The sprawling 15,400-square-foot brick mansion, designed by renowned architect Robert M. Gurney, boasts five bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms, as well as two kitchens and three fireplaces.
Located just 15 minutes from the White House, Zuckerberg's new residence is also within walking distance of Vice President JD Vance's official home at the Naval Observatory. The property, situated on a nearly 1-acre corner lot in the Massachusetts Avenue Heights neighborhood, features extensive outdoor amenities including a basketball court and pool complex, as well as newly constructed walls and fencing for enhanced security.
Zuckerberg's purchase is part of a larger trend among tech executives seeking to establish a presence in Washington during President Donald Trump's second term. Other notable figures, such as David Sacks and Jeff Bezos, have also acquired properties in the city in recent years. The Meta CEO's move comes at a time when his company faces an antitrust trial in April, with the Federal Trade Commission weighing a breakup of its WhatsApp and Instagram holdings.
A Meta spokesperson confirmed the acquisition, stating that Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla purchased the home to allow Mark to spend more time in Washington as Meta continues its work on policy issues related to American technology leadership. The purchase also raises eyebrows given Zuckerberg's recent visit to the White House, where he was seen alongside Trump. As speculation swirls about Zuckerberg's potential role as a tech confidant to the President, one thing is clear: the tech mogul's influence in Washington will only continue to grow.
