rank Lloyd Wright's iconic home, Westhope, is now on the market in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with a significant price cut. Originally listed for $8 million in 2023, the property has been reduced to $3.5 million, a 56% drop.
Built in the 1920s, Westhope is one of Wright's largest private family homes, spanning 10,400 square feet. The residence boasts five bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and an impressive array of glass panes – over 5,200 cover almost half of the exterior. Skylights allow for ample natural light to flood in.
Wright designed Westhope as a labor of love for his cousin, Richard Lloyd Jones, publisher of the Tulsa Tribune. The home's unique textile-block style features geometric patterns created by pouring concrete into molds and reinforced with steel rods. This innovative system was first introduced by Wright in the early 1920s.
The current owner, a Tulsa real estate investor, purchased Westhope for $2.5 million in 2021 from a Tyson Foods heiress. Extensive renovations were undertaken, including waterproofing, kitchen upgrades, and replacing window glass.
Westhope is one of only three Wright homes in Oklahoma and the only example of his textile block style outside of California. The property's history is steeped in anecdotes, including an infamous story about Wright's flat-roof designs and a stormy night when Richard Lloyd Jones complained to his cousin about leaks on his desk – only to be told to move his desk.
The home's current listing is held by Sage Sotheby's International Realty.
