isbarred Garden City real estate attorney Daniel Boldi was sentenced to 4-12 years in prison for stealing over $6 million from clients through more than 50 separate transactions between 2020 and 2024. Boldi, 50, pleaded guilty to grand larceny and scheme to defraud charges after failing to make restitution under a plea agreement that offered him 3-9 years in exchange for paying back $1 million.

Victims of the scam, including first responders, expressed outrage at Boldi's lack of remorse. Kenneth Bozier, a retired Army Reserves and New York State Police officer, said he spent his retirement fund trying to compensate for the half-million dollars lost due to Boldi's actions. Another victim, John Gavan, a retired NYPD officer, claimed that Boldi showed him a doctored wire transfer receipt after failing to pay off his mortgage.

Andrew Combs, a volunteer EMT in Queens, said that Boldi's scam left his ambulance group without access to money meant for new emergency vehicles and a substation. Although some of the funds were reimbursed by the Lawyer's Fund for Client Protection, the group was still short $250,000.

Prosecutors stated that 52 people fell victim to Boldi's scheme, losing a total of $6,206,368 between 2020 and 2024. Defense attorney Michael R. Franzese argued that Boldi's judgment was clouded by cocaine and alcohol addiction, but the judge rejected this excuse. Supreme Court Justice Caryn Fink sentenced Boldi to 4-12 years in prison and ordered a civil judgment for $6.2 million.
