Clay County Extends Deadline for Personal Property & Real Estate Taxes

Clay County extends deadline for residents to pay tax bills.

C
lay County has pushed the due date for personal‑property and real‑estate tax bills to January 30, 2026. The change follows setbacks in the Senior Real Estate Property Tax Relief Program, which caused many residents to receive their statements later than expected. Under the new deadline, no late fees or interest will accrue for payments made on or before the extended date.

Commissioner Jerry Nolte explained that the county is still working to roll out senior tax relief, but the postponement is intended to prevent confusion and lessen the financial strain on taxpayers. “We’re navigating a complex transition,” he said, “so we’re extending the deadline to January 30, 2026 for both categories of tax.”

All tax bills are now accessible online. Those enrolled in the senior relief program can view their statements on the county portal; other residents have received mailed copies and can also check the website. The county thanked residents for their patience during the rollout and urged them to stay informed by visiting the Clay County website or following the county’s Facebook, Instagram, and Nextdoor pages.
