Georgia schedules execution for 2003 double real‑estate agent killer.

Georgia officials set execution date for Stacey Humphreys, convicted of killing two real estate agents in 2003.

G
eorgia’s Department of Corrections has scheduled the execution of Stacey Humphreys for December 19 at 7 p.m. The 52‑year‑old, convicted of malice murder in the 2003 killings of real‑estate agents Cyndi Williams (33) and Lori Brown (21), will be the first person executed in the state this year. On Nov. 3, 2003, Humphreys entered a sales office in a model home in Powder Springs, a suburb about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta. He forced the women to strip, demanded their bank PINs, then shot them and stole their driver’s licenses, bank and credit cards. At the time he was on parole for a 1993 theft conviction and had been released 13 months earlier. Witnesses saw a man matching his description and a black Dodge Durango parked at the office. Police traced him to his Dunwoody home, but he fled, leading to a high‑speed chase that ended with his arrest in Wisconsin. A Ruger handgun recovered from the Jeep he used to escape fired the 9‑mm rounds that killed the agents; DNA on the gun matched Williams, while blood in his truck matched Brown. Georgia carries out executions with the sedative pentobarbital, according to the Department of Corrections.
