ashion designer Georgina Chapman, co‑founder of the luxury label March Esa and ex‑wife of Harvey Weinstein, is facing a foreclosure on her West Village apartment and a series of civil suits linked to her business ventures.
A foreclosure complaint filed earlier this year alleges that Chapman and her brother, Edward Chapman—who runs March Esa—failed to meet the payments on a $2.5 million mortgage secured against the two‑bedroom Manhattan condo. The loan required monthly installments exceeding $9,000, and the siblings stopped paying in November 2024. The suit claims they now owe the full principal, plus accrued interest, late fees, and legal costs, bringing the total to the original $2.5 million plus additional charges. The condo board has also sued for more than $7,000 in unpaid common charges.
The foreclosure is just one of several lawsuits involving Chapman and March Esa. In September, GFP Real Estate sued the fashion house for over $1.4 million in unpaid rent and utilities at 80 Eighth Ave., where March Esa had occupied the 17th and fourth floors. The company vacated the 17th‑floor space that month, and GFP is now seeking to evict March Esa from the remaining floor and recover damages. March Esa has since relocated its operations to a suite on West 26th Street.
A third lawsuit, filed in Kings County Supreme Court by Fiji West Funding LLC, accuses March Esa and the Chapmans of taking roughly $300,000 in merchant cash‑advance funding and then instructing their bank to halt payments in June 2025, breaching the repayment agreement. Under the terms, they were to repay $500,000 in receivables and had granted the lender access to their corporate bank account—including passwords and security answers—to collect daily installments.
Chapman has not publicly responded to any of the lawsuits, and it remains unclear whether the missed payments stem from financial hardship or a strategic delay. She has 212,000 followers on Instagram and has not posted since June. None of the parties have replied to requests for comment, and the foreclosure case is still pending in New York Supreme Court.
March Esa was founded in 2004 by Chapman and designer Keren Craig and quickly gained prominence for its ornate gowns worn by Hollywood’s elite, including Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively, Sandra Bullock, and Katy Perry. Craig left the company in 2019, and the brand’s visibility has since waned. In March, Puck reported a surge in customer complaints about undelivered refunds, with one shopper writing on the Better Business Bureau site, “I have emailed them and called more than a dozen times with NO RESPONSE!”
Chapman married Weinstein in 2007 and separated in 2017, shortly after multiple women publicly alleged sexual assault, sparking the #MeToo movement. Their divorce was finalized in 2021, with Chapman reportedly receiving a confidential settlement of $15 million to $20 million. Despite Weinstein’s real‑estate holdings being liquidated after his conviction—including a $25 million West Village townhouse, a $10 million Hamptons home, and a $16 million Connecticut estate—Chapman has largely stayed out of the spotlight.
Her current address is unclear. In addition to the West Village condo, records show she is linked to a Midtown unit, though she is not listed as the owner. She also spends time at Stone Barn Castle, a historic upstate New York estate owned by her partner, actor Adrien Brody. According to a Parade interview, the castle houses Chapman’s two children, her ailing mother, and a “menagerie” of animals: four cats, two donkeys, three horses, and a small white dog named Ziggy. The property includes an art studio and a variety of livestock.
A court appearance for the Fiji West Funding lawsuit is scheduled for November 13, 2025, while the other cases remain pending.
