T
he Jacobs Companies has secured approval from the Glenview New Development Commission to redevelop the Scott Foresman campus into a 60-unit upscale subdivision. The unanimous decision clears the way for the demolition of the vacant, 256,000-square-foot office building that has stood idle since 2020. The site, previously owned by R2 Companies and T2 Capital Management, will be transformed into a community of single-family homes catering to empty nesters.
The proposed development features modern amenities and first-floor primary bedrooms in homes ranging from 2,100 to 2,800 square feet, priced between $800,000 and $1.3 million. The density of 3.1 homes per acre is significantly lower than a previously rejected plan for 140 rental units, which was deemed too dense by commissioners and residents.
The scaled-down approach has alleviated community concerns about overcrowding and school impacts, as the targeted demographic consists of individuals without school-aged children. Glenview's residential market is experiencing upward price pressure due to limited inventory, making this development an attractive option for local buyers seeking to downsize while remaining in the area.
