Google Leases Additional Space in Manhattan's Vornado/Related Tower

Google renews lease for 300,000 sq ft at 85 Tenth Avenue with $100/sq ft rent.

oogle has extended its lease at 85 Tenth Avenue, a property jointly owned by Vornado Realty Trust and Related Companies. The tech giant will occupy an additional 300,000 square feet of space at the 11-story red brick building, which was built as a warehouse in 1913.

    The asking rent for the new lease is reportedly $100 per foot. Google already has a significant presence in the area, with its headquarters located just south at 550 Washington Street and Chelsea Market across the street from 85 Tenth Avenue.

    Other notable tenants at 85 Tenth Avenue include Shopify and biometric screening company Clear, which leased 120,000 square feet of space in 2021 for an average rent of $110 per square foot. The federal government also leases space at the property for certain agencies.

    Google has made significant investments in the area, purchasing Chelsea Market for $2.4 billion and 111 Eighth Avenue for $1.77 billion in 2010. It also paid $2.1 billion for its new headquarters at 550 Washington Street when it was under construction.
