elcome to The Dirt, where I'm Darrell Hofheinz, filling in for Kimberly Miller this week. Kim is known as the "Mistress of Real Estate Snark" at The Palm Beach Post, and I'm not quite up to her standards, but I'll do my best. There's been plenty of real estate news lately, so let's dive in.
Sean Hannity, Fox News host, has made a big splash by buying an ocean-to-lake estate in Manalapan for $23.5 million through his trust. This is a significant upgrade from his existing Palm Beach townhouse, which he's declared his primary residence. The new property offers a convenient location just south of Palm Beach and a straight shot to President-elect Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club.
In other celebrity news, Bob Vila, the TV handyman from "This Old House," has renovated an old house in Palm Beach on Pendleton Lane and flipped it for $13.4 million after buying it for $12.5 million just a year ago. The buyer was notable interior designer Delphine Krakoff, wife of fashion designer Reed Krakoff.
In downtown West Palm Beach, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church is in talks with a New York City real estate company to redevelop part of its property with apartments, including some affordable housing. This is just one example of how religious institutions are benefiting from the city's development boom and inspiring other property owners to do the same.
Finally, a recently completed Palm Beach mansion on the North End has hit the market for $64.5 million. Developed by Sabatello Cos., this lakefront spec home boasts distinctive architecture inspired by a 1930s villa in northern Italy. With its open-air colonnade and lush gardens, it's an experience that buyers of multi-million-dollar mansions will surely appreciate.
That's all for me this week. As Kim would say, "Live lightly."
