Henrico County lowers real estate tax rate

Henrico County Supervisors Approve 2-Cent Real Estate Tax Rate Reduction

I
n a move to ease the financial burden on residents, Henrico County's Board of Supervisors has shaved 2 cents off the real estate tax rate. The revised rate now stands at 83 cents per $100 of assessed value, making it the lowest among Virginia's top 10 localities. This reduction comes in response to widespread discontent among homeowners who were caught off guard by significant property assessment increases earlier this year. One homeowner from Lakeside expressed frustration with a 17-18% hike in their property valuation, which they deemed excessive. The county has also announced corresponding decreases in tax rates for personal property, vehicles, and manufactured homes.
