Home improvement store coming to thriving town with major investment

Home Depot Expands in North Texas with 105,000-Square-Foot Celina Location.

H
ome Depot is expanding its retail presence in North Texas with a new 105,000-square-foot store in Celina. The location at the northwest corner of Ownsby Parkway and Preston Road will be strategically situated near a planned Costco and across from a future Lowe's. To support this expansion, the city council approved a $1.39 million sales tax grant for Home Depot in December.

Under the terms of the 10-year agreement, the company must open the store by July 2026 and hire at least 48 local employees by March 2027. Celina's rapid growth, with a population surge of 26.6% between July 2022 and July 2023, outpacing all other U.S. cities, is driving demand for retail in the area.

The city expects significant tax revenue from the new Home Depot store, which will be complemented by an upcoming H-E-B location on Dallas North Tollway. Celina's residential construction boom, including projects like Legacy Hills and a $30 million apartment complex with 700 units, highlights the need for additional retail in the area.
