rank Sinatra's former party house, a mid-century modern estate known as "Farralone," has been sold for $5 million. The sale includes a 9-acre plot and the guesthouse rumored to be Marilyn Monroe and John F. Kennedy's secret hideaway. Built between 1949 and 1951 by architect William Pereira, the home boasts sweeping views of a nature preserve from its 50-foot pool and pergola lounge.
The L-shaped estate features four bedrooms, six bathrooms, and 6,661 square feet of living space. Sinatra rented the home during the heyday of the Rat Pack, and it has since become a popular filming location for TV shows and movies. The property generates up to $1.2 million in rental revenue annually.
The home's design is characterized by 16-foot-high ceilings, moveable glass walls, and zebra cork flooring. Its striking design and classic California valley views have made it a timeless hot spot for movie, TV, and music video shoots. Recent productions include Miley Cyrus' "Flowers" music video and her 2023 film "Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions)".
The neighboring parcel, which the new buyers purchased for an additional $3 million, includes a small home and pool where Monroe allegedly had her love nest with JFK. The future of this land is uncertain, but its zoning allows for potential development into 10 homes, equestrian facilities, or a vineyard.
Sinatra's former party house has been rented by over 500 film and TV production companies, including those behind "Mad Men," "Californication," "Dreamgirls," and "Transformers." The home's previous owners listed it for $21.5 million in 2021 but eventually sold it to Rock Asset Management Trust in a foreclosure sale for just $2.1 million after struggling with rental revenue losses during the pandemic and writer's strike.
