A
bill introduced in Illinois aims to incorporate the concept of "Coming Soon" (CCP) into the state's real estate licensing laws. Sponsored by State Representative Lilian Jiménez, H.B. 3452 seeks to modify the Real Estate License Act of 2000. The proposed law would require brokerages to list properties on public platforms within a day of signing an agreement with sellers, unless the seller explicitly opts out.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation would provide opt-out forms for sellers. Jiménez's goal is to promote fair housing and give buyers equal access to all available homes. Zillow and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals are supporting the bill alongside Jiménez.
Illinois Realtors CEO Jeff Baker has stated that CCP is not part of his organization's legislative priorities, indicating a potential divide on the issue within the state's real estate community.
