he Department of Posts is exploring ways to monetize its prime real estate as part of a broader plan to revamp and reposition the network. Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the department should "sweat its assets," utilizing large plots of land by building post offices on the ground floor and leasing out space above. The first step is to identify properties, verify ownership documents, and pinpoint major potential sites before partnering with developers.
The postal department sits on prime real estate across India, and Scindia's plan involves setting up six verticals that can generate new revenue streams. This will help turn each of them into a profit centre, contributing to the overall transformation of the network.
