ACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Duval County School Board's first-ever "A" grade could be a game-changer for the local housing market. When families consider buying a home, a top-rated school district is often a major selling point.
According to Realtor David Elian, the demand for homes in an "A"-rated county is higher than in a "B"-rated one due to supply and demand. This could lead to increased home prices, which have already shown some signs of improvement. Redfin data shows that May's average home price was around $313,000, 4% lower than last year.
Elian believes the A-rating will eventually boost home values over time. "It'll take a few months, but it'll really help our homeowners with their property values," he said. DCPS Superintendent Dr. Christopher Bernier is hopeful that the district's improved grade will attract new families and alleviate financial pressures.
However, Bernier emphasizes that parents should consider more than just school grades when choosing a home. "I want people to make an informed choice by visiting our schools, meeting principals, and seeing what we can deliver," he said. The "A" grade is a positive development that could inspire families to call Jacksonville home and bring in new students for the district.
