ason Wu, a Canadian designer born in Taiwan, has turned his love of hotel life into a new venture. He partnered with The Residences at Mandarin Oriental Miami to design custom uniforms for the property’s 7,000‑sq‑ft sales pavilion on Brickell Key, which will showcase model units before the Swire Properties development finishes in 2030.
Wu’s signature precision tailoring and modern elegance shaped uniforms for every pavilion staff member. Women in guest‑experience roles wear a three‑quarter‑sleeved pleated dress with a waist‑tie and wax‑seal button; men wear a collarless blazer and straight‑leg trousers. Bartenders get a tailored look: women wear a collared button‑down with contrasting sleep‑tab accents and straight‑leg pants.
The collaboration highlights The Residences as one of Miami’s most anticipated luxury projects. The complex will feature two towers: the South Tower, home to 228 residences with interiors by Parisian designer Tristan Auer, and the North Tower, which will house the Mandarin Oriental flagship hotel and 70 private residences by Laura Gonzalez.
Wu’s hospitality interest extends beyond fashion. Since 2020 he has worked with Taiwan’s EVA Air on first‑class pajamas, a partnership that builds brand affinity with a discerning clientele. He remains open to future projects that blend fashion and high‑end real estate.
The luxury real‑estate market is booming. In 2024 it was valued at $903.2 billion and is projected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2032, growing at a 4.5 % CAGR. Branded residences have surged 176 % over the past decade, with 690 projects operating and 617 slated to launch by 2030. Miami has become a magnet for brands like Armani, Cipriani, and Aston Martin, all seeking a foothold in the city’s upscale residential scene.
