asper Wu is taking aim at Hell's Kitchen with a major development project that has secured significant financing. ZD Jasper Realty has obtained $117.5 million in construction financing for its mixed-use condo project at 430 West 37th Street, according to the Commercial Observer. Maxim Capital Group provided the debt, which will be used to complete the construction of the building. Meridian Capital's Morris Betesh arranged the financing.
This is not the first time Maxim has worked with ZD Jasper on a project. The company previously provided $46 million in condo inventory and construction financing for 5 Court Square in Long Island City, as well as $61.5 million for 22-43 Jackson Avenue in Queens.
Wu's firm filed plans in February 2023 to build an 11-story, 128-unit property on a vacant lot in Hell's Kitchen. The building will span 128,000 square feet and include 10,000 square feet of commercial space. ZD Jasper purchased the site as part of a $52 million deal with Extell Development in 2022.
Wu joined his family's Great Neck-based firm in 2019 and has since become a certified chartered financial analyst, construction superintendent, site safety supervisor, and general contractor. He is leading the company's expansion from Queens to Manhattan, where it plans to develop nearly 400 condo units.
