im Carrey has finally found a buyer for his Los Angeles mansion after nearly two years on the market and a significant price cut. The sprawling Brentwood estate, originally listed for $28.9 million in 2023, is now under contract with an asking price of $19.75 million.
The property, which Carrey purchased for $3.8 million in 1994, boasts a tennis court, waterfall pool, yoga space, wine cellar, and art gallery. The luxury home features six fireplaces, a chef's kitchen, and an Art Deco theater with mohair fabric walls and a popcorn concession room.
Carrey had been open about his financial difficulties, which led him to reconsider his plans to retire from acting. "I bought a lot of stuff, and I need the money," he admitted earlier this year. The sale would seem to be a relief for Carrey, 62, who has been working on projects like "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" to make ends meet.
The estate holds sentimental value for Carrey, as it was purchased during his rise to superstardom in the early 1990s. He frequently updated the property over the three decades he owned it. Despite its luxurious features and prime location, the home had been struggling to attract buyers until Carrey finally listed it at a lower price.
Carrey's decision to part with the home comes after years of declining interest from buyers. He had previously declared his intention to retire from Hollywood, but financial realities changed his plans. The sale marks a new chapter for the actor, who has been open about his desire to "power-rest" rather than fully retire.
