iami Beach tech mogul John Backus has put his stunning glass house on the market for $15.9 million. The property, located at 7960 Biscayne Point Circle, boasts five bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, and a private dock.
The modern two-story home is designed to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls offering breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay. Backus purchased the property in 2022 for $13 million, just as his company Cognito was acquired by Plaid for $252 million.
Built on a third-of-an-acre lot, the 6,408-square-foot home features high ceilings, marble and wood floors, and a chef's kitchen with a breakfast bar overlooking the water. The outdoor area includes an infinity pool and a covered car park for four vehicles.
Backus cited Miami's more welcoming business climate as a reason for relocating from San Francisco in 2022. The property was originally built by former nightclub owner Francis Milon, who purchased the land for $2.1 million and completed construction in 2019. Chad Carroll of Compass is handling the listing.
