udge Judy Sheindlin is downsizing her Manhattan penthouse, reducing the asking price by $1 million to $8.5 million. The two-level apartment in Sutton Place, a high-end neighborhood in Midtown East, was first listed for $9.5 million last May.
Located atop a 15-story prewar co-op designed by Rosario Candela, the penthouse features four bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a wood-paneled library with a wraparound terrace offering river and city views. The residence is accessed via a semi-private elevator landing and has a curved staircase with original wrought-iron balustrade leading to the lower level.
The building offers a range of amenities, including a full-time doorman, private deeded storage for each unit, and a gym. Judge Judy and her husband, Jerry Sheindlin, are selling the home "to simplify," according to a statement made last year. The new price matches what they paid for the home in 2013.
Listing agents Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon of Compass describe Sutton Place as one of Manhattan's most exclusive neighborhoods, an oasis from city chaos. They praise the penthouse for its timeless design and style, saying it embodies the quintessence of the neighborhood.
