Julia Haart's Bright NYC Penthouse on Sale for $65M

The stunning skypad at 70 Vestry St. was the center of battle between Haart and her ex-husband, Italian Silvio Scaglia.

0 Vestry St’s penthouse, the star of Julia Haart’s “My Unorthodox Life,” is now on the market for $65 million. The 7,808‑sq‑ft duplex—largest in the building—offers 13 rooms, six bedrooms, six baths, two powder rooms, two chef kitchens, an internal elevator, and 3,687 sq‑ft of outdoor space across three levels, including a private roof terrace with an outdoor kitchen. Floor‑to‑ceiling windows frame Hudson River and city skyline views, while bold red walls and custom cabinetry add drama.

Haart, who now fully controls the unit after her ex‑husband Silvio Scaglia—who bought it through an LLC for $56 million in 2018—has turned the space into a personal haven. She converted Scaglia’s former office into a cozy den with Gucci chairs, Haas Brothers furnishings, a 102‑inch screen, a Mel Bochner “Ha Ha Ha” painting, and Anne Carrington’s cutlery bouquet. Her signature closet system, a unique invention developed with an Italian firm, is described by Haart as “like a dry‑cleaner, but totally different—my own invention, the only one of its kind on the planet.”

The penthouse layout begins with an elevator landing, a foyer, and a corner great room overlooking the river. A chef’s kitchen with custom cabinetry, a marble breakfast bar, and a terrace for al‑fresco dining lead to a study and home office. Floor‑to‑ceiling book storage adds a literary touch. The main bedroom suite features a dressing room and a windowed ensuite; four additional bedrooms share the floor. Upstairs, a 670‑sq‑ft great room with a gas‑ceramic fireplace by Peter Lane opens to a library with custom inlay bookshelves, a solarium, a study, and another terrace. Two parking units and a storage unit are included.

Haart’s neighbors include Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, who bought a $40.7 million penthouse in the building in 2019, and former NFL star Tom Brady, who, with Gisele Bündchen, owned a unit that was sold during the pandemic; Brady still holds a pied‑à‑terre. The building, designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects and developed by Related Companies, offers a gated porte‑cochère, a courtyard, a double‑height lobby, a gym, an 82‑foot pool, and a children’s pool.

Although the penthouse was listed for $125,000 a month, it never rented; Haart chose to stay. She remains active in business, running her shapewear line Body By Julia. The listing broker is Adam Modlin of the Modlin Group, who declined to comment.
