Kanye West's abandoned Malibu mansion sells in all-cash deal

Kanye West's Malibu mansion, designed by Tadao Ando, is for sale again.

K
anye West's infamous Malibu beachfront bunker, a former architectural gem designed by Tadao Ando, has found a new owner just one week after hitting the market. The Wall Street Journal broke the news of the sale.

The property, dubbed "Little Ando," was built in 2013 and boasts four bedrooms across its 4,000 square feet. West acquired it for $57.25 million in 2021, only to gut the home, leaving it a hollow shell exposed to the elements between 2022 and 2023.

The concrete box-like residence was snapped up by Belwood Investments last September for $21 million, with plans to restore it to its former glory alongside its original builder. The crowdfunded real estate firm has now sold the half-restored home to Andrew Mazzella Ventures LLC for a contract price between $30 and $34 million.

Belwood's investment in new framing, plumbing, roofing, and electrical work has set the stage for the buyer to put their own creative touches on the property. Replacement windows are still pending, but the new owner plans to complete the restorations before putting it back on the market for $55 to $65 million.

The sale marks a significant return on investment for Belwood's 500-plus investors, who will receive their funds in less than six months. The deal was facilitated by Jason Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Group and Mauricio Umansky of the Agency, with Amanda Lynn representing Mazzella's interests through Nest Seekers International.
