LA Luxury Home Built for Fire Safety Sells for $8M

Desperate Housewives Creator Marc Cherry Sells His Own Beverly Hills Estate

M
arc Cherry, the creator of "Desperate Housewives," is selling his new-construction home in Los Angeles for $8 million. The 7,451-square-foot steel-framed house was built to withstand fires and features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and three stories with a spiral staircase.

The architect, Daniel Cordova, designed the home with fire safety in mind, using steel framing throughout and no wood studs. The exterior is clad in stone, and there are no attic or crawlspace vents to reduce the risk of wildfire embers. A whole-home fire sprinkler system adds an extra layer of protection.

The interior boasts a large living room with a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling accordion windows that lead to the dining room and chef's kitchen. The main bedroom has an ensuite bath, walk-in closet, and access to almost 1,000 square feet of outdoor space over multiple balconies.

Downstairs features an in-law suite with a private entrance, kitchenette, and laundry room. Outside, there's decking, drought-tolerant landscaping, outdoor speakers, and a firepit. A smart-wired system controls audio, security, temperature, and lighting, while a 300-gallon underground cistern uses rainwater for irrigation and firefighting.

Toluca Lake, where the home is located, has a rich history in the arts and entertainment industry, making it an ideal neighborhood for Cherry's next owner.
