Lambda leases 20K sf space in San Francisco's Financial District

Lambda expands SF office space near AI peers in Financial District.

L
ambda is expanding its presence in San Francisco's tech hub by subleasing 20,000 square feet of office space at 45 Fremont Street. The move brings the company's real estate footprint up by 50%, with plans to fill out the new space and take on another floor by the end of 2025. Lambda's headquarters in San Jose is already full, mostly used for manufacturing.

The expansion reflects the company's shift towards being closer to other AI firms in the city. "All of our hiring is happening in San Francisco," said Robert Brooks, a founding team member and vice president of revenue at Lambda. The new office will be located near AWS GenAI Loft and the BART station, facilitating commuting and access to events.

This move follows similar expansions by OpenAI and Notion, which have also increased their presence in San Francisco's AI sector. With vacancy rates over 37% in the city's office market, Lambda's expansion is a bright spot for the area. The company requires employees to be present at the office four days a week, but plans to adjust this policy as it prepares for an IPO.
