A
local artist and real estate agency are collaborating to transform vacant buildings into a community where people can call home. Endeavor Group Real Estate plans to convert the former USA Economy Lodge on Crestwood Boulevard into 226 affordable housing units, with the first 60 expected to be completed by the end of the month.
To add a personal touch, Birmingham artist Rob Clifton has been hired to paint 10 murals on the buildings. Clifton's goal is to create a sense of community and inclusivity among residents, as he believes that everyone deserves to feel valued and appreciated. "I hope this mural and series of murals gives residents a sense of community and well-being," Clifton said. "I want the murals to say 'you're worth it too'."
The artwork is expected to be completed by August, coinciding with the completion of the first phase of the project.
