28-year-old Massapequa man was swindled out of $112,000 on Monday after falling victim to a sophisticated email scam. The scammer posed as the man's real estate lawyer and requested that he wire funds for closing costs to a bank account. Believing it was a legitimate request from his attorney, the man sent the money before realizing his mistake when his actual lawyer contacted him to confirm that no such payment had been made. Police are currently investigating the incident and have not identified the scammer or determined whether the stolen funds can be recovered.
