Luxury Home Sells for $5M After Brief Listing Period

Houston's priciest home sale: 13,600-sq-ft waterfront estate sells for $5-6M.

A
luxurious waterfront estate in the Houston area has set a new record for the most expensive home sale. The 13,600-square-foot mansion at 401 Lakeshore Drive sold for between $5.08 million and $5.86 million, or approximately $374 to $430 per square foot. Located on nearly 6 acres along Taylor Lake, the estate was listed for $7.9 million in September but commanded a significant discount of three quarters of its asking price.

The property's standout feature is its massive primary suite, claimed by Nan and Co. as the largest in Texas, spanning over 4,000 square feet. The home boasts nine full bathrooms, two half-baths, six bedrooms, and an array of luxurious amenities including a custom car showroom with kitchen and game room, boat ramp, media room, and sunroom.

Built in 2017, the estate has undergone significant upgrades, including added storm protection measures like bulkheads and hurricane shutters. After multiple listings since 2013, the property sold quickly after being listed again last month, amidst a surge in luxury sales in the Houston market. In September, single-family home sales increased by 1.7 percent year-over-year, while luxury sales rose by 2 percent, indicating steady demand for high-end properties.

The sale of this mansion is one of two high-profile transactions outside of Beltway 8, with another significant sale occurring in Spring, selling between $2.87 million and $3.31 million on October 18.
