T
he US real estate market has wrapped up another year, with the median home price for the four weeks ending December 22 coming in at $383,725, according to Redfin. However, some transactions far exceeded this figure, with several properties selling for tens of millions of dollars.
Redfin identified the top five most expensive sales of 2024, which included a Carpinteria, California home that sold for $96 million. This Tuscan-style farmhouse boasts five bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, and spans over 10 acres, including waterfront frontage. Another notable sale was in Aspen, Colorado, where "The Ranch at Owl Creek" sold for $77 million in April. The property features eight bedrooms, a heated swimming pool, hot tubs, and a wine cellar.
Other high-end sales included a Miami Beach, Florida home that went for $72.25 million, with nine bedrooms and waterfront views of Biscayne Bay. In Aspen again, a five-bedroom home sold for $66.5 million in late April. A Carpinteria mansion was also sold for $65 million in mid-November, featuring three parcels on an oceanfront bluff.
These sales were among the priciest deals of 2024, with other notable transactions including an eight-figure sale in Los Angeles and a Reno, Nevada-area house that notched a $62 million sale. The current record for the most expensive transaction ever in the US remains a $238 million New York City deal from 2019.
