A
bond hearing is scheduled for Kendrick Finch, the 34-year-old man accused of shooting and killing 28-year-old real estate agent Ashlee Long in Downtown Dallas. The incident occurred on April 5 after a night out with friends. Finch turned himself in to police following an investigation and social media appeals from family members and authorities.
Finch is currently being held in the Dallas County jail with a $500,000 bond, which his attorneys are seeking to reduce. A court hearing is set for 9 a.m., with both Long's and Finch's families expected to be in attendance.
According to police, surveillance video shows that Finch exited a passing Mercedes with a gun after a man Long was with reached into her purse and pulled out his own firearm. Finch then opened fire, striking Long and the man she was with. The man survived, but Long later died at the hospital.
Finch has a prior criminal history, including drug charges and burglary. His bond hearing will determine whether he remains in custody or is released pending trial.
