Matthew Cohen Returns to BHS After a Brief Stint at Elliman

Matthew Cohen, who joined the Holly Parker Team in November, is leaving to join Brown Harris Stevens for a second time, just months after his last move.

M
atthew Cohen, who previously worked at Brown Harris Stevens (BHS), is returning to the brokerage after leaving for Douglas Elliman just months ago. Cohen will lead his own team focused on resales and new development, where he will be joined by two agents from Elliman, Lexy Diamond and Jessica Silver, as well as Traci Guberman who is already part of BHS. Cohen's return to BHS is seen as a strategic move given his experience at Halstead before its merger with BHS in 2020.

While working with Holly Parker's team, Cohen was responsible for overseeing daily operations and recruiting agents from New York, the Hamptons, and Florida. However, his tenure was short-lived due to his desire to lead his own team. Parker acknowledged the decision, stating that it wasn't the right fit with the team.

Cohen's departure from Parker's team was amicable, with both parties wishing him well in his future endeavors. Last year, Cohen closed $60 million in sales, including a $3.3 million deal for a two-bedroom condo in Tribeca. At BHS, Cohen's team is set to lead marketing efforts for The Gild, a 28-unit condo development in Manhattan when sales launch in the fall.

BHS CEO Bess Freedman expressed her excitement about Cohen's return, stating that he has chosen the perfect time to return home given the current market conditions. Cohen is not the only agent to leave Elliman recently; Lisa Simonsen also made the move to BHS earlier this month. Maggie Marshall, who was part of two top-producing teams at Elliman, joined Compass to lead her own team. Additionally, The Zweben Team, led by former restaurateur Paul Zweben and his wife Carolyn, also moved to Compass after two decades at Elliman.
