ndy Hansen Jr., a resident of rural Texas, has acquired Fort Worth's tallest tower, Burnett Plaza, after Pinnacle Bank foreclosed on the property in May and sold it to him through a credit bid worth approximately $12 per square foot. However, the new owner will inherit a $68 million senior loan on the building. Hansen, president of Trafalgar Homes, which has developed over 100 single-family homes and 1,000 multifamily units, bought the property after reading about its foreclosure.
Hansen is also the CEO of the Hansen Stewardship Foundation, which has donated to various causes, including churches and a rehab center. He has already begun addressing the building's $2.3 million in deferred maintenance. Despite the change in ownership, Burnett Plaza remains embroiled in mortgage fraud allegations against its previous owner, Shaya Prager's Opal Holdings.
Pinnacle Bank claims that Prager lied to secure a loan for the building, which was purchased for $137.5 million but had over $169 million in loans taken out on it. A lawsuit filed by Tarrant Construction Services alleges that Prager owes $1 million in construction costs, with a trial set for July 2025. Hansen will inherit the ground lease, but can replace or modify it as specified in the deed of trust.
