ontclair State University has partnered with JLL to find a new executive director of real estate and economic development. The university's 252-acre campus in Montclair, New Jersey is home to over 22,000 students across 13 colleges and schools.
JLL Senior Vice President Nick Dinallo will lead the search for the ideal candidate. According to Dinallo, "This project enables us to leverage our expertise and further connections within our industry." JLL was chosen due to its unique understanding of the skills required for the role and its extensive network in the industry.
The executive director position will serve as a liaison between the university, business community, and government. The primary goal is to develop strategic partnerships that position Montclair State as a key economic driver in the region and state. Key responsibilities include identifying MSU-owned real estate for expansion, seeking public-private partnerships, evaluating potential acquisitions and leases, and collaborating with city and state agencies.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of leadership experience in economic development, real estate development, or a related field. A strong knowledge of development partnerships and revenue generation strategies is also required, preferably in a higher education or public sector environment.
