olden State Warriors star Moses Moody has taken a 3-point shot into the world of real estate. Over the summer, the swingman interned at Shorenstein Properties, a San Francisco-based company that owns tens of millions of square feet of commercial buildings nationwide. Moody's interest in real estate was sparked by reading "Rich Dad Poor Dad," a book about financial literacy and independence.

    Moody met Brandon Shorenstein, chairman of Shorenstein Properties and a Warriors season-ticket holder, at a midseason game last year. They struck up a conversation, and Moody asked to learn more about the company's business. Shorenstein agreed to mentor him, and Moody participated in the firm's internship program during the offseason.

    As an intern, Moody learned industry software and terminology, attended meetings and happy hours, and gained hands-on experience developing properties. Despite being a high-profile NBA player, Moody kept a low profile and worked hard, earning praise from Shorenstein for his humility and dedication. When it was time to leave for his hometown of Little Rock, Ark., Moody chose to stay an extra day to complete the internship, demonstrating his commitment to learning about real estate.
