My Dream Home Became a Toxic Nightmare

Warning for new homebuyers: A homeowner shares her frustrating experience.

A
TikTok user named Brittney Necole is warning others about the dangers of buying a new home after her "dream house" turned into a nightmare due to black mold that made her entire family seriously ill for months.

Necole claims she was "gaslit" and "lied to" by her builders, who insisted there was nothing wrong with the newly built property despite her growing concerns. She says they installed the wrong size air conditioning unit, used lumber that was already moldy, and forgot to put in a vapor barrier.

As a result, Necole and her family suffered from severe symptoms including fatigue, inflammation, sensitivity to cleaners, and neurological dysfunction. Her children experienced extreme fatigue, mood swings, rashes, and chronic allergies.

Necole is stuck in the home due to an almost 9% interest rate on her mortgage, which leaves her with $3,000 of interest payments each month. She's warning others to be cautious when buying a new home and to watch the construction process closely.

She advises checking the air conditioning unit with a professional, not just the builder's own inspector, as she believes this is often where problems arise in new builds. Necole also suggests being aware of the signs of mold poisoning, which can include fatigue, rashes, and neurological issues.

Her story has sparked similar responses from others who claim to have experienced similar symptoms after discovering mold in their homes. Some are advising others to seek legal action against builders who fail to properly construct homes.
