NAR Exec Committee Unanimously Approves Strategic Plan

With input from 150,000+ members, the 2026–2028 plan is NAR’s playbook to transform member experience.

N
AR is embarking on a mission to refresh the member experience and modernize the association, and it has just unveiled a three‑year strategic roadmap. The Executive Committee gave unanimous approval at NAR NXT, The REALTOR® Experience in Houston, marking the official launch of a new era that CEO Nykia Wright calls “the biggest real‑estate turnaround in history.”

The 2026‑2028 plan centers on a fresh value promise: “NAR empowers REALTORS® to thrive by advocating for them, delivering market intelligence, offering education, upholding high standards, and elevating the REALTOR® brand. In doing so, NAR protects and advances the right of Americans to own real estate.”

Key to the plan is addressing the toughest challenge—anticipating and delivering member value in a rapidly changing market. It outlines eight commitments to REALTORS®, the industry, partners, and consumers:

    1. Help REALTORS® succeed daily

    2. Drive collaborative solutions

    3. Protect and advance legal interests

    4. Advocate for property ownership for all

    5. Build a proactive organization

    6. Rebuild partnership foundations

    7. Recommit to professionalism

    8. Cultivate trust in the REALTOR® brand

Each commitment is supported by 24 initiatives covering everything from new member onboarding to governance, budgeting, and brand differentiation.

The priorities emerged from an exhaustive consultation process. Over 150,000 members—up from 100,000—shared their views through forums, surveys, focus groups, and meetings with regional and national brokerages. Their feedback highlighted legal protection and brand trust as top concerns, shaping the eight strategic pillars.

Wright emphasizes that this plan differs from past ones because it holds internal staff accountable. “It’s not just about modernizing; it’s about ensuring NAR staff deliver on results,” she says. Each of the 24 initiatives has a designated project lead, a clear timeline, and measurable milestones. NAR will publish metric‑based updates and welcomes member feedback if targets aren’t met. Success metrics include member satisfaction, engagement, brand perception, consumer interaction, and revenue growth.

Implementation will fully kick off in 2026, with the first annual report slated for early 2026. That report will detail progress through 2025 and outline the 2026 milestones, demonstrating accountability to members, the industry, and consumers while maintaining financial diligence.

In short, NAR’s new strategic plan is a member‑driven, accountability‑focused blueprint designed to transform the association and strengthen the REALTOR® brand over the next three years.
