New Jersey Log Cabin Sells Quickly After Zillow Frenzy

Property needs roof, septic work and pool removal but still attracts buyers.

A
log cabin in West Milford's Hewitt section is generating a frenzy of interest among buyers. The 1935-built home, priced at $179,888, has four bedrooms and one bathroom on its half-acre lot. Despite needing repairs - including a new roof, septic system, and windows - the property has attracted nearly 20,000 views on Zillow in under two weeks and 120 showings.

The listing agent, Peter Kontrafouris of EXP REALTY, attributes the interest to the home's affordability and secluded location. "A four-bedroom house listed under $200,000 in West Milford is a rare find," he said. The median sales price in the area was $445,000 as of December.

Buyers are drawn to the property's proximity to Greenwood Lake, wineries, breweries, and ski resorts. Some are looking for a weekend home, while others plan to fix and flip it or live there full-time. The accepted offer is "well over" the asking price, according to Kontrafouris.
