New York Life Real Estate Investors Names New Leadership

New York Life Announces Leadership Transition in $68 Billion Real Estate Investment Arm

N
ew York Life Real Estate Investors (NYLREI) is undergoing a leadership transition. At the end of June, Managing Director Thomas O'Hanlon will take over as head of NYLREI from Senior Managing Director Mark Talgo, who is retiring after 22 years at the helm. O'Hanlon will continue to lead real estate equity and report directly to Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer Tony Malloy.

O'Hanlon has been instrumental in growing New York Life's real estate equity business into a $10 billion institutional asset manager with national reach. He joined the company in 2004 as an acquisitions officer and played a key role in building NYLREI's portfolio management and transactions teams when the General Account began investing in real estate equity.

Malloy praised O'Hanlon, saying he is "an approachable and genuine leader who embodies the core values of New York Life." Talgo, who has led NYLREI since 1985, will be missed but leaves behind a legacy of growth and excellence. Under his leadership, the team expanded to over 180 employees across five offices, with a portfolio valued at $68 billion.
